Rights of Women (ROW) seeks women Trustees to join its Board team to provide strategic direction, support and governance so it can work towards its vision of equality, safety and justice for all women.
ROW was established in 1975 to ensure women have access to the law. We believe that all women have the right to accurate and accessible advice and information about the law and their legal rights so they can make informed choices. Without this, women will continue to experience violence, abuse and discrimination and cannot play an equal role in society. We deliver a range of high quality, specialist and accessible services aimed at increasing women’s understanding of the law and their ability to seek justice.
We seek women from diverse backgrounds whose skills and experience will complement our existing Board, enabling us to stay at the forefront of women’s rights and legal policy debates. We recognise the critical role that intersectional and structural discrimination play in society and would welcome women with a strong commitment to addressing these issues throughout our work. Our Board is responsible for ensuring our sustainability, responsiveness and reach in a challenging external climate; we are keen to recruit women with expertise in relation to law, the policy environment, fundraising, marketing and ICT who can assist in strengthening our approach in these areas.
The Board plays an active role in our work, and offers a great opportunity for women to make a contribution and develop leadership skills in this important area of women’s equality.
Commitment: Board members are required to attend quarterly meetings and away days and are encouraged to invest in our development by attending or leading subgroups.
